Dee Golden > January 3, 2006. Rockaway Beach. Local residents don't trust the beach during high surf activity. These visitors fortunately were looking at the ocean and made a mad dash to safety. This is caused by the rip tide in this area. There are two areas where the tides go sideways, only to meet the incoming waves with a spectacular display!
